The European Union’s (EU) Platform on Food Losses and Food Waste plays a key role in mobilizing action to reduce food waste across the EU, as part of the Farm To Fork Strategy. According to a recent evaluation, 70% of food waste in the EU arises in the households, food service and retail sectors.
The Platform will have its 11th meeting this week on November 18 and will give an update in regards to the European Commission’s (EC) work on food loss and waste prevention. More specifically, the Platform members will elaborate on the EU’s target concerning food reduction actions, as well as the EU’s code of conduct and marketing strategies. Apart from that, future projects, such as the European Consumer Food Waste Forum will be discussed, along with global developments following the United Nations Food Systems Summit 2021.
The meeting will be held online through a live streaming, giving the opportunity for everyone to be a part of this important discussion. You can find more information and read the event’s agenda below.
